What is hardwood flooring?

Hardwood flooring is made from real wood. It brings natural grain, warmth and a high-end feel that other floors try to copy.

We install new hardwood floors. You can buy your own wood and have us install it, or we can source it for you from any major brand.

Who it is best for

  • Main floors and living rooms

Hardwood shines in the rooms people see most.

  • Bedrooms and dining rooms

Lower-traffic, dry rooms are a great match for real wood.

  • Homeowners planning to stay

It's a long-term floor for people who love the real thing.

  • Not the best for basements or wet areas

Real wood reacts to moisture. For basements and bathrooms, LVP or tile is usually a better pick.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Natural, one-of-a-kind look and feel
  • Warm underfoot
  • Long-lasting when it's cared for
  • Works with almost any style of home

Things to know

  • Doesn't like water. Spills need wiping up fast
  • Can scratch and dent, especially with pets
  • Wood moves with changes in humidity, which matters in dry Alberta winters
  • Usually costs more than LVP or laminate

Our installation process

  1. Measure and check

We measure, check the subfloor, and talk through the look you want.

  2. Get the wood ready

Wood often needs time in your home before install so it adjusts to the room. We'll tell you how long your product needs.

  3. Remove and prep

Old flooring comes out and the subfloor gets prepped so it's solid and flat.

  4. Install

Boards go in row by row with a careful layout and tight, even joints.

  5. Finish and walkthrough

Trim and baseboards if booked, then a full walkthrough with you.

We don’t leave a job site until it’s perfect. If anything is wrong with our installation, we come back and make it right.

Hardwood questions

Is hardwood a good choice for my basement?

Usually not. Basements can be damp, and real wood doesn't handle moisture well. LVP is the usual pick for basements.

Hardwood or LVP: which should I choose?

Pick hardwood if you want real wood and it's going on a dry main floor. Pick LVP if you have pets, kids, spills or a basement. Our FAQ page compares them in more detail.

Can I buy my own hardwood?

Yes. We install customer-supplied flooring, or we can source any major brand for you.

Do you install hardwood on stairs?

Yes. We do stairs to match your new floor. See our stair flooring page.
