What is laminate flooring?
Laminate is a wood-look floor with a hard, scratch-resistant top layer over a dense fibreboard core.
Like LVP, most laminate clicks together and floats over the subfloor. The big difference is the core. Laminate's wood-based core doesn't handle standing water as well as vinyl does.

Who it is best for
Bedrooms and living rooms
Dry rooms where you want a wood look that holds up.
Homes with pets
The hard top layer resists scratches from claws well.
Rentals and flips
A durable, good-looking floor for the money.
Less ideal for wet areas
For bathrooms, laundry rooms and most basements, we usually suggest LVP or tile instead.

Laminate questions
Laminate or LVP: what's the difference?
Both are wood-look floors that click together. Laminate has a harder, more scratch-resistant top. LVP handles water much better. Dry room with pets? Laminate is great. Basement or kitchen? Go with LVP.
Can laminate go in a basement?
We usually recommend LVP for basements because of moisture. We'll look at your space and give you an honest answer.
Is laminate good with dogs?
Yes. Its hard top layer handles claws well. Just wipe up water bowls and accidents quickly.
Can I supply my own laminate?
Yes. We install customer-supplied flooring, or we can source any major brand.
